Committees

Discover individuals doing outstanding things in the field of aging and help select several categories of award winners. This committee solicits CCGG award nominations, reviews nominations, and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors for award recipients. It has a role in developing the award presentation component of the Annual Meeting.

Augment your grant writing skills by helping CCGG identify grant support and by writing infrastructure and association project grants. This committee meets monthly and identifies support and leads grant writing initiatives for the CCGG. It works closely with the Education committee on a series of local fund-raising efforts for student scholarships and travel stipends to attend the annual meeting.

Develop essential program planning skills by helping plan our annual educational program. Assist in developing program content and format, speaker selection, and onsite implementation. This committee meets virtually, beginning in August to plan the April Annual Meeting Program. It is the duty of this committee to plan the program content, speakers, and activities. Responsibilities include assisting with local arrangements and submitting information to the Board of Directors for consideration.

Increase your marketing knowledge and skills. Develop grassroots membership and marketing campaign strategies. Help design new membership products and services for traditional and non-traditional CCGG members with various professional affiliations. This committee has identified membership diversification and growth as a major priority for the association. They meet monthly to further develop their marketing plan, identify membership benefits and to enhance membership recruitment and retention. They develop and refine CCGG's marketing tools and they also oversee marketing for the Annual Meeting.

Increase your knowledge of the nomination and election process and connect with professional networks to discover qualified candidates. This committee develops the roster for nominees to fill upcoming vacancies on the Board of Directors, develops the election ballot, and works closely with the Executive Office through the election and notification process.

Expand your knowledge of California policy and legislation, while supporting CCGG in our efforts to improve the quality of higher education in gerontology and geriatrics in California. This committee meets monthly and is instrumental in arranging legislative hearings and conducting follow-ups on policy/legislative issues and related work. It often accepts direction from the Board of Directors on new initiatives to address and works closely with state legislators and government leadership.
