COURSE OVERVIEW

As the 21st century progresses, California’s workforce will increasingly be confronted with issues related to aging. In CCGG’s continuing effort to advocate for a workforce that addresses these issues, we have designed this program to assist educators, legislators, students, and gerontology and geriatrics professionals to create and expand career paths that use their knowledge and skills to the benefit of California’s population.

This program will provide an overview of the legislative process related to workforce issues, presenters will discuss ways to create careers in aging. In addition, we will discuss entrepreneurial and entrepreneurial opportunities for gerontology and geriatrics professionals, and provide tools for career path development for California’s Workforce.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES

At the completion of this program attendees will be able to:

1. Understand the role of policy and advocacy in support of California workforce issues affecting our aging society.

2. Articulate workforce issues related to aging that would benefit from the expertise of gerontology and geriatrics professionals.

3. Identify traditional and non-traditional roles for the gerontology and geriatrics professional in California’s workforce.

4. Develop strategies to position gerontology and geriatrics professionals for expanded roles and employment opportunities for the benefit of the California workforce.
