Helen Miltiades, Ph.D. Gerontology

Dr. Helen Miltiades received her doctorate in gerontology in 1999 from University of Massachusetts/Boston.


She spent a year at the Boston College Initiatives on Aging researching the coping mechanisms of older mothers who were caring for an older adult child with mental retardation.


She was an Assistant Professor at Shippensburg University for four years, where she worked on curriculum development and continued researching caregiving families.


She has been at CSU, Fresno since 2005, as the Director of the Interdisciplinary Gerontology Program.


She also assumes a leadership role in The Central California Institute for Healthy Aging. Her research interests also include health aspects of older adults, healthcare utilization, and aging in various cultural contexts.
