Debra Secord, MSG Ph.D.
Debbie Secord, Ph.D. chairs the Department of Gerontology, Health, Food and Nutrition and Physical Education at Coastline Community College.
She has served on the CCGG Board in various capacities since 2000, currently serving on the Strategic Plan Task Force and the Membership and Marketing Committees.
Debbie is an invited member of the Orange County Older Adult Services Mental Health Task Force and serves via the Community College Educators of Older Adults (CCEOA) as a member of the State Department on Aging Task Force on Evidence-Based Preventative Health Training for Older Adults.
Debbie’s specialty is designing online courses. She has received the National Institute of Staff and Organizational Development’s (NISOD) Teaching Excellence Award; has been Coastline’s Teacher of the Year and has been a three-time nominee for the Hayward Award (the State Academic Senate Award for teaching excellence).
The online Gerontology Certificate Program at Coastline, which she helped design, received the Instructional Technology Council’s Program Excellence Award for online instruction and design.
